Hello!
My name is Micaela, and I'm a 25-year-old Bolivian studying for my Master's at the University of Copenhagen. I have a bachelor's degree in Human Ecology from the US and my IB in Germany.
I consider myself very creative as I love to create, from fantasy worlds to lessons for the classroom. I like to plan and be very organized, as I believe the order is efficacy. I enjoy discussions where my worldview is challenged, and we work together to find common ground or simply agree to disagree. I like to write, read and bake in my spare time. You'll find me walking in the park, drawing something, or even trying to improve my knitting skills.
During my four years in college, I focused on intercultural education in elementary grades. I took Child Development, Methods class, and other classes like Intercultural Education and two independent studies focused on Latin America and language development in the early stages. I experienced being a classroom assistant in a small infant school in my city called Jopoi for a few months, in which I assisted kids from 1 to 5 years old. I also did part of my internship in Kurmi Wasi (another school in Bolivia that focused on indigenous knowledge), assisting in a 3rd-4th grade classroom and the English class in all middle and high school grades. As a language tutor, I also have experience teaching Spanish remotely to high schoolers and primary students.
I value education with the learner at the center of every process and where they teach with a pedagogy of love in which students have a safe harbor to develop. I try to include their preferences and hobbies in their language learning experience. I believe that teaching a language without a proper background lacks understanding, so I have day-to-day situations and the cultures linked with the language.
I want to be a tutor at GoTutor because I believe in the importance of quality education. I enjoy being part of the process of learning with many students and helping them achieve success on their own.
